Bombers Season Ends with a Loss; A Foundation for Growth Has Been Laid

By Travis Mattocks | Oct 7, 2026 7:19 AM

The Rensselaer Central Bombers saw their season end Tuesday night with a 10-1 sectional loss to Lafayette Central Catholic. Senior captain Daniel Davis scored the Bombers' lone goal and earned the final MVP ball of the season. While Tuesday was not the ending the Bombers wanted, one game will not define this season. This season was defined by change. The Bombers began to establish a new identity built around competing for 80 minutes, playing for one another, and believing they can come away with a win. Throughout the season, we saw glimpses of what this program can become. We saw players respond to adversity, fight back when trailing, earn results in difficult matchups, and continue raising the expectations they have for themselves and each other. There is still work ahead, and that is what makes the future exciting. The goal isn't to look back at where Bomber soccer has been. It's to keep moving forward and continue building a program our players, school, and community can be proud of. To our seniors, thank you for helping lay the foundation for what comes next. The 2026 season is over. The change is just getting started.
