The 8th Grade Lady Bombers were back on their home court Thursday night, hosting the North White Lady Vikings and battling their way to another straight-set victory, 25-17, 25-13!The win keeps the Bombers' streak alive and moves their record to 6-0! It wasn't our sharpest night of volleyball, and the Bombers know they have more in the tank. Communication was a struggle at times, especially early in the match. The second set showed some improvement, but we still weren't quite playing the style of volleyball we know we're capable of. That said, there were plenty of bright spots! The back row came up with some BIG digs and solid passing, and there were some great swings at the net. Most importantly, the Bombers found a way to battle through, stay together, and get the job done. SERVING UP THE PRESSURE Genesis Escarpita was PERFECT at 17/17 with 1 ace, while Camryn Drone fired away at 9/10 with 3 aces. Riley Rodibaugh was also perfect at 5/5 with 1 ace. Lilly Schmid went 4/5 with 1 ace, Hallie Hege 4/6, Ainsley Strange 3/4 with 1 ace, and Kynedi Stokes 2/3. DIGGING DEEP Our libero Lilly Schmid was all over the back row with an impressive 21/24 digs and 7/8 passing. Riley Rodibaugh added a perfect 10/10 digs and 7/7 passing. Genesis Escarpita finished with 5/6 digs, Hallie Hege 4/4 digs and 7/7 passing, Camryn Drone 4/5 digs and 12/13 passing, and Kynedi Stokes 3/3 digs with 15/17 passing. Ainsley Strange added 1/1 dig and 6/8 passing, while Lacey Ralston went a perfect 8/8 passing and Emma Chapman was 2/2. SETTING THE TABLE Our setters kept the offense moving with Hallie Hege recording 5/5 assists and Kynedi Stokes adding 4/4. At the setting line, Hallie Hege was PERFECT at 25/25, Kynedi Stokes was 17/17, Genesis Escarpita went 3/4, Ainsley Strange 2/2, and Lacey Ralston 1/1. ATTACK & TIP GAME The outside hitters brought some heat with Camryn Drone going 6/7 with 2 kills and Ainsley Strange 4/5 with 3 kills. Genesis Escarpita and Kynedi Stokes each went 2/2, while Emma Chapman finished 2/3. When the Bombers needed to mix things up, Camryn Drone dropped 8 tips, Hallie Hege added 6, Genesis Escarpita 5, Kynedi Stokes 4, and Lacey Ralston and Ainsley Strange each had 2. At the net, Kynedi Stokes put up 2 blocks to help shut down the Vikings' attack. NEXT UP: SOUTH NEWTON A win is a win, and tonight's victory keeps us 6-0, but the Bombers know there is work to do before Monday.
